The two sides talked about strengthening economic, trade and investment ties. They spoke about growing trade between the two countries, bringing in more Indonesian investment and finding new areas where both sides can work together.

The governor spoke about the strength of Bangladesh’s growing economy and its investment potential. He encouraged Indonesia to expand its investment in the country.

The discussion also covered the chance to send more ready made garments, electronic products and pharmaceuticals from Bangladesh to Indonesia. The aim, as discussed in the meeting, is to make trade between the two countries more balanced and more diverse.

Ambassador Listyowati said Indonesia is interested in building stronger economic and commercial relations with Bangladesh. She also pointed to opportunities for cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The Indonesian side also included Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery Wahyu Riadi, Third Secretary for Economic Affairs Robbi Firly Harkha and officer Sapto Rudiyanto. From Bangladesh Bank, Deputy Governor Md Sarwar Hossain and Executive Director Md Harun or Rashid were present.

For now, the meeting was about intent and ideas rather than deals. Still, naming garments, electronics and medicines shows where Bangladesh wants to grow its sales in Indonesia.
