SR Chemical Industries Limited, a subsidiary of SR Group, has signed a Tk 100 crore joint investment deal with three international companies. The plan is to build a new factory in Bangladesh, and everything it makes will be sold abroad.
The partners are Puyang Cleanway Chemicals Ltd from China, Kings Pacific Enterprises Ltd from Canada and Steinbach Chlorine GmbH from Germany. A press release issued on Wednesday shared the details.
Together, they will run a joint venture company called SR Pacific Chemical Industries Limited. It will set up a modern plant to produce trichloroisocyanuric acid, or TCCA. This chemical is widely used in water treatment and in industrial applications.
The factory will use chlorine made by SR Chemical Industries Limited as its main raw material. That means the key input will come from within the country, which creates a local production chain from raw material to finished product.
The work has already started. Plant installation has begun, and the company aims to start commercial production and exports in the second quarter of 2027.
The agreement was signed by Asif Rabbani, managing director of SR Chemical Industries Limited, and Xinke Wang, managing director of Puyang Cleanway Chemicals.
The deal is expected to help Bangladesh’s chemical manufacturing sector grow by bringing in foreign technology, expertise and investment. It is also expected to add variety to the country’s exports and strengthen its place in the international chemical market.
If the plan goes as targeted, a chemical made with Bangladeshi chlorine could soon be on its way to buyers around the world.
