The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) opened three dedicated country desks for investors from China, South Korea and Japan during an event in Dhaka on Friday, 10 October 2026. These new desks aim to provide faster, more targeted services for foreign companies.
Investors from 38 countries put money into the eight export processing zones and two economic zones run by BEPZA. According to BEPZA records, China, South Korea and Japan rank as the top three investment sources for these industrial areas.
The special desks focus on improving communication with current and future investors from those three nations. Officials want the desks to offer direct assistance and simplify the investment process for foreign businesses.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain spoke at the Meet the Investors event. He stated that the meeting helps build stronger partnerships and lets officials hear investor concerns directly.
During the 2025-26 fiscal year, BEPZA signed deals with 36 new enterprises. Total exports from the zones hit $8.41 billion in that period, which is a 2.22 percent increase from the previous year.
Hossain also highlighted the official opening of four new areas during the year. These are BEPZA Economic Zone-1, BEPZA Economic Zone-2, Jashore EPZ and Patuakhali EPZ.
Representatives from the Korea-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the event. More than 100 local and foreign investors joined them.
Total investment in all BEPZA zones reaches approximately $7.50 billion. Cumulative exports from these areas total around $130 billion, making up about 20 percent of national exports.
